Bill and I go back to second grade. He was absoluttely one of the wittiest people I have ever known. He was always the life of our class reunions; a regular dancing machine! God bless Gayle and all of Bill's family. I know they will miss him greatly as will I.

Bill was my hero as a football player. He wasn't very big but he played big when we really needed it. In particular, he was awesome in the games against our biggest rival...Seneca High School. I'll never forget the guts and determination he displayed when it mattered the most. He was the primary reason we beat highly ranked Seneca both our junior and senior seasons.

Mike Simson

If I remember correctly, and that may be dubious, he came into the game our senior year to replace me as quarterback when I got a concussion trying to run into the end zone on a quarterback option.  If you recall, my nickname was "scatter-arm Simson, so I didn't pass to Bill Gatti, who was pretty open in the end zone.  I thought I could run the few yards in.   I didn't make it!  Fortunately Bill Sherman replaced me, and since we won the game, he saved the game! RIP, Bill!

I always enjoyed chatting with Bill on the football field. He was a great teammate and a person with humility but if you watched him play, I felt in his cornerback position, he was the best tackler on the field. I want to express my condolences to the family. Sincerely, Howard
